The walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers. The Emmaus weekend gives participants an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of their faith in God, to receive the transforming grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, to relate closely with other persons who are seeking a deeper faith, and to rededicate their lives as members of the body of Christ called to ministry in the world. The idea is to renew life from the heart. Throughout the retreat, broken marriages have been forgiven and have recovered love, brothers have been reconciled, people who did not understand their meaning of life now understand that God loves them, people far from the Church that has requested to prepare to receive baptism, sick people who give thanks to God for their illness, hopeless who embrace the love of God … It is a gift that the participants make to their life to meet the Lord face to face.
Here in St. Joseph Church, the Emmaus groups (Man & woman’s) get together every other Tuesday, they Pray for each other, and everyone in the community. On the 3 rd Sunday of the month the participate on the 1130 mass service as Eucharist Ministers, Readers and Ushers. We also make homebound visits and bring them communion. On the first Friday on the month we clean the church. We also support other ministries at the church.
